DESCRIPTION:Pierre Paul Émile Roux naquit le 17 décembre 1853. Médecin\, bactériologiste et immunologiste français\, Roux est l’un des plus proches collaborateurs de Louis Pasteur (1822-1895)\, co-fondateur de l’Institut Pasteur et responsable de la production de l’anti-sérum diphtérique\, la première thérapie efficace pour cette maladie. En 1903\, Metchnikoff et Roux ont découvert que la syphilis était transmissible aux singes\, détruisant ainsi la vieille théorie selon laquelle la maladie était exclusivement humaine et inaccessible pour les expériences.
