DESCRIPTION:Le 26 juin 1861 naquit à Wiesbaden Karl Herxheimer\, dermatologue juif allemand. La réaction de Jarisch-Herxheimer\, réponse inflammatoire qu’il a remarquée après un traitement contre la syphilis\, a été partiellement nommée après lui. Dans certains cas\, les patients atteints de roséole (taches rougeâtres ou cuivrées sur la peau) dues à la syphilis\, après la première dose d’antibiotique contre Treponema pallidum présentent cette réponse inflammatoire qui peut être confondue avec une allergie (hypersensibilité) au médicament\, surtout si l’antibiotique est la pénicilline.
